Appointment of new Trustee

Updated: 10 hours ago

The Walpole Society is delighted to announce the appointment of a new trustee, Dr Catherine Daunt.

Catherine Daunt is Curator of Modern and Contemporary Prints at the British Museum, where she has worked since 2014. Her initial focus at the Museum was on American prints, as project curator for the 2017 exhibition The American Dream: pop to the present, (8 October 2020 - 14 November 2021) but she is now responsible for Western prints of all schools from 1900 and has a particular interest in British art and collecting.

Her recent exhibitions include Picasso: printmaker (7 November 2024 - 30 March 2025), Contemporary collecting: David Hockney to Cornelia Parker (25 April - 29 September 2024) and Art on Paper since 1960 (22 September 2022 - 5 March 2023). In 2020 the Museum published her catalogue of the Alexander Walker collection, a bequest of around 200 works on paper received by the Museum in 2004.

Prior to joining the British Museum, Catherine worked as Assistant Curator at the National Portrait Gallery and Assistant Exhibition Officer at Nottingham Castle Museum and Art Gallery. She holds a PhD from the University of Sussex.
